Backyard Tranquility |
There are so
many reasons to build a pond. Perhaps you want a pleasant place to take a dip
and cool down on a hot afternoon. Maybe you’re looking to bank some winter rain
for irrigating an orchard or vineyard. Or maybe a pond is the ideal focal point
for your landscape or garden. After all, a pond doesn’t have to be huge. Using
as little as 50 to 500 gallons of water, you can place a pond in your yard and create
your own calm oasis.

The DripWorks Pond Begins |
For a small
backyard pond, the excavation doesn't have to be extensive to be effective. A 2’ deep and 3’ wide pond near the front door or back patio will quickly
become a favorite gathering spot. Add a handful of hardy goldfish, a few
rocks, some beautiful plants to shade the water and provide a safe
hiding place for the fish, and you’ll love the results. A small recirculating
pump and filter will keep the water clean and clear. You can even add the
soothing sounds of a waterfall feature to enhance the sense of tranquility.

Whatever the
size of your pond a pond liner will
ensure that no water is lost to seepage through sandy, loamy, or rocky ground
underneath. In the DripWorks demo garden, we have a pond that is 5’ wide, 10’ long, and 2.5’ deep and uses a 10’ x 15’ EPDM liner. As you can see, there are endless possibilities
for a small pond like this in a backyard or garden setting.

last 20-25 years exposed to the sun.
You can play with our pond calculator to see what size liner is needed for the pond you’re dreaming about. If you decide a pond is your future, you might also want to take a look at our pond care products and underlayment materials to protect your liner and maintain your pond’s health.
